It has a new campaign of 8 scenarios situated in the area of modern day England and Wales, starting from the initial landing of Romans and continuing up to Boudica's rebellion. There are some gameplay related changes (e.g. units have different spotting ranges, making some of the weaker units better scouts) but the overall the gameplay experience is very familiar to veterans of original Populus Romanus.
Naturally the original game will continue to be supported as well. On that front, I'm going to make those Hannibal scenarios harder as requested by several players.
I'm looking forward to no. 2! Have you thought about adding rock/paper/scissors mechanics, as they are implemented in TW games? That would give spears some added value.
ReplyDeleteIt's already the 9th october 2012 and i see no Populus Romanus 2: Britannia in the Android market out yet.
ReplyDeleteStill waiting.
Funny, I just started replaying PR1, last played it 6 months ago, replay value is very good. But, I really look forward to new scenarios.
ReplyDeletePS. I prefer game mechanics as they are, no rock-paper-scissors.
ReplyDeleteIt's taking a bit longer than I expected to get PR2 finished due to having less time to work on it than I expected. However, things are starting to look good: 7 out of 8 scenarios are now done, trying to get the final one done soon. Then it's mostly doing enough playtesting to ensure that the balance of scenarios is decent enough ... I'll make a new blog to announce availability as soon as it is in releasable condition.
ReplyDeleteWow can't wait can't wait to start playing PR2.
ReplyDeleteI have just finished playing through populous romana on Android. Great game! I will buy sequels or spinoffs on sight! Thanks! Allan Dickson
ReplyDeleteWhen next update and new levels will come out?
